Intermetallic charge transfer between A-site Cu and B-site Fe in A-site-ordered double perovskites

چکیده
In this review article, we describe in detail the temperature-induced intermetallic charge transfer between A-site Cu and B-site Fe ions in the A-site-ordered double perovskites RCu3Fe4O12 (R = La, Bi). In these compounds, a very rare Cu valence state at the square-planar-coordinated A sites was stabilized by high-pressure synthesis. By increasing the temperature, a Cu–Fe intermetallic charge transfer producing a high Fe valence state occurred. This charge transfer gave rise to a first-order isostructural phase transition with unusual volume contraction, as well as to antiferromagnetismto-paramagnetism and insulator-to-metal transitions. The substitution of Bi for La stabilized the low-temperature phase containing Cu and increased the charge transfer transition temperature from 393K for LaCu3Fe4O12 to 428K for BiCu3Fe4O12. 1 Present address: Multiferroics Project, ERATO, JST, c/o Cross-Correlation Materials Research Group (CMRG), ASI, RIKEN, Wako, Saitama 351-0198, Japan. 2 Authors to whom any correspondence should be addressed. Negative thermal expansion induced by intermetallic charge transfer
Suppression of thermal expansion is of great importance for industry. Negative thermal expansion (NTE) materials which shrink on heating and expand on cooling are therefore attracting keen attention. Here we provide a brief overview of NTE induced by intermetallic charge transfer in A-site ordered double perovskites SaCu3Fe4O12 and LaCu3Fe4-x Mn x O12, as well as in Bi or Ni substituted BiNiO3....
متن کاملZhang-Rice physics and anomalous copper states in A-site ordered perovskites
In low dimensional cuprates several interesting phenomena, including high Tc superconductivity, are deeply connected to electron correlations on Cu and the presence of the Zhang-Rice (ZR) singlet state. Here, we report on direct spectroscopic observation of the ZR state responsible for the low-energy physical properties in two isostructural A-site ordered cuprate perovskites, CaCu(3)Co(4)O(12) ...

The present study investigated the impact of environmental pollution, represented in soil, irrigation water and air heavy metals, on the growth and production of Egyptian clovercultivated at south Greater Cairo, Egypt. Plants were sampled through five quadrats (0.5×0.5m), distributed equally in four cultivated farms in unpolluted and polluted sites, at theharvesting time. In addition, soil, air ...
متن کاملThe Effect of Cu Impurity on the CO-dissociation Mechanism on the Fe (100) Surface: A Full Potential DFT Study
In this study, the theoretical calculations of CO dissociation were carried out on Cu-Fe alloy surface by a full-potential method, which made more accurate results especially on the prediction of adsorption energies. This process may be governed by either a direct route or a H-assisted via HCO and COH intermediates pathways. In comparison to the pure surface Fe (100), the presence of Cu atom en...

In the present study, tin-promoted Pd/MWNTs nanocatalystwas synthesized via polyol technique for application in hydrogenation of high-concentrated acetylene feedstocks. TEM images showed a restricted distribution of nanoparticles in the range of 3-5 nm. The results indicated that nanoparticles sizes were resistant to further catalyst deactivation. XRD patterns signified alloying between Pd and ...
